Old Houses and Sleep

Friends Rod and Kate in Albany love old houses, really old houses, houses that are over a century old and in need of work. They have a project ahead of them that I look forward to monitoring on their new blog. You might want to follow their progress also. I put their link on the right side with my other links. Things still appear to be on track for the Hood climb early tomorrow morning. Barring weather mischief I'll be testing the legs straight up for three miles. I'm not as concerned about the climb as adjusting to the lack of sleep. Attempts to nap during the day at work usually can't happen when the public comes through the door or when little fires need to be put out. After work my adrenaline level usually goes up as the hour approaches, so there's no sleeping, and I've been up since 5 a.m. Check back for how it went...

Thanks for providing the link to our new crazy house project. It will be a busy summer, but the payoff is the pride in saving a 134 year old house from literally falling down.

50 years from now, we can drive by as 90 year old geezers and say, "Sonny boy, that house would be a parking lot if not for the work of your Great Grandpappy and Grandmama."

I suppose you and Joy recently had a similar experience after your dream home was finally ready to move in.

What you may not have considered are the folks who will come after you. Countless families will get to enjoy the spectacular view from every room because of your hard work. You have provided the stage for centuries of memories.

What a project you have decided to embark on. You are to be commended for taking on so much work but in the end it will be so gratifying. Old houses have so much charm and they have provided such great memories for those who inhabited them in the past. Besides all the hard work you will be doing think of the folks you are going to meet who will be providing you with their history of the house. We are looking forward to your progress.
